Our Community

We have lived and worked in the Greater Salt Lake area for over 10 years and have built a trusted team of wonderful people. We are proud to be on referral lists for these amazing organizations and happily refer back to them.

Alta Dog Rehabilitation

One of the most fascinating specialties at PTDT is the work we do with the awesome ladies at Alta Dog Rehab! Tena and Annette have played a critical part in the team that keeps Katie’s oldest Cavalier, Magnus, healthy. We’ve seen from personal experience how important having a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Therapist is when rehabilitating injuries. At Alta Dog they not only consider treatment that impacts the immediate injury, but focus on overall health and long time wellness of your dog. They give tirelessly to many local rescues, working closely with Companion Golden Retriever Rescue.

Therapy Animals of Utah

Over the years we’ve had the privilege to work with many therapy dog teams from Therapy Animals of Utah. Our trainer, Katie, is honored to have written a custom training curriculum for Therapy Animals of Utah. This class educates therapy dog handlers on recognizing signs of stress in their dogs and prepares them for evaluation.

Therapy Animals of Utah is a registered member of Pet Partners, a leading national registry of teams. Work with them at all and you’ll hear their hallmark tenant, YAYABA™ better knows as, “you are your animal’s best advocate.” This is a tenant we whole heartedly stand behind!

Veterinarians

vet

The dog community along the Wasatch Front benefits from a wealth of great vets. These are a few we’ve worked with personally over the years.

Dr. Kanda Hazelwood, DVM at Mountain View Animal Hospital is one of our favorites! Over the years since Magnus was diagnosed of IMTP (an auto-immune disorder) and SM/CM (degenerative brain and brain stem diseases) Dr. Kanda has been a dedicated member of the team that keeps him spunky! Her experience, care and patience are unrivaled.

At Canyons Veterinary Clinic Dr. Heather H. Moreau, BVM&S, MRCVS and her staff are devoted to making a visit to the vet a cooperative experience. The calm environment at their small clinic minimizes stress for both handlers and dogs.

Positive Reinforcement Trainers

Because Positive Trails Dog Training focuses on small personalized attention we can not take all the lovely clients we’d like to work with. Fear not! We have a great group of like minded force free, science based, positive reinforcement trainers here in the valley.

At Shake On It Dog Training Jamie leads the way to a new standard in handling and grooming skills using Cooperative Care. Her knowledge and patience in helping reactive and aggressive dogs has helped many dogs live more peaceful lives with their handlers. She and her Border Collie, Toshi are a regular part of our Volunteer Community.

Side By Side dog training has a comprehensive offering of classes and lessons. Laurie is one of the highest credential trainers and kindest people in our dog training community. At her training facility you will find specialty classes such as targeting, pet first aid, treiball, freestyle and conformation.
